Eczema Care

Step 1: Medical Assessment

Your doctor assesses your eczema severity, checks for skin infections and develops a personalised wet wrap therapy plan.

Step 2: Therapeutic Hydrotherapy

Your session begins with a soothing hydrotherapy soak, using our clinic's specially developed approach to deeply hydrate the skin, relieve dryness and prepare it for subsequent treatment.

Step 3: Prescribed Treatments and Moisturising

Our trained team carefully applies prescribed anti-inflammatory treatments and moisturisers to help calm inflammation and restore skin hydration.

Step 4: Gentle Wet Wrap Application

Soft, damp cotton garments or bandages are applied over the treated skin to maintain hydration and enhance the effects of prescribed topical treatments.

Step 5: Protective Dry Wrap

A second, dry layer is applied to retain moisture, maintain warmth and ensure comfort throughout the session.

Step 6: Review and Aftercare

Your skin is reviewed, and further sessions are planned according to your progress. Our team provides clear aftercare guidance to help maintain eczema control at home.

Evidence-Based Eczema Treatment

Clinical studies support wet wrap therapy as a short-term treatment option for selected patients with moderate-to-severe eczema, particularly during significant flare-ups.

Supporting medical research:

Our goal is to make intensive eczema care accessible, comfortable and effective in an outpatient setting, without hospital admission where clinically appropriate.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is wet wrap therapy suitable for babies and young children?

Yes. Wet wrap therapy is commonly used for babies and children with severe or widespread eczema. The doctor will assess whether it is suitable and adjust the treatment and wrap size to your child's age.

Can adults have wet wrap therapy?

Yes. Wet wraps are not only for children. Adults with moderate to severe or widespread eczema flares may also benefit, and treatment is planned around work and daily routines.

How many wet wrap sessions will I need?

This depends on how severe and widespread the flare is. Your doctor will plan the number of in-clinic sessions and how often to attend, and review your skin at each visit.

Does wet wrap therapy hurt?

Wet wraps should not hurt. Most people find them cooling and soothing on itchy skin. Some feel a little cold at first, so the room is kept comfortably warm during treatment.

Is wet wrap therapy done at the clinic or at home?

At The Skincare Clinic, wet wrap therapy is provided as an outpatient treatment in the clinic, under medical supervision. Between sessions, you continue your prescribed daily skincare and moisturising routine at home.

Will wet wrap therapy cure eczema?

No. Wet wrap therapy is used to bring a flare under control. Long-term care, including daily moisturising, trigger management and follow-up, helps keep eczema stable afterwards.
